Cape Town: Disa search

The Western Cape’s flower emblem is the Red Disa (Disa Uniflora), by far the most striking of all orchids, and is known as ‘The Pride of Table Mountain’.

February is Red Disa month – would you like to see a Red Disa in its natural habitat?

Mensa Cape Town invites members, friends and family, to join us:

07h45 for 08h00
Lower Cable Station
Pre-paid ticket queue

In order to avoid delays on the morning of the tour, we suggest you purchase your tickets online beforehand.

We will take the earliest cablecar up the mountain and will traverse along the top to Maclear’s Beacon.

At a slow, leisurely pace, it will take around 90 minutes to cross the Western and Central Tables to get to the Eastern Table. This will be around 10h00 – tea time!  Remember to pack your own snacks and refreshments.

Just beyond Maclear’s, there’s a valley through which a stream passes.  Disas love water, so this is one of the places we hope to find them.

Around 11h30 we will make our way back to the Upper Cable Station via a slightly different route.

We will reach the Cable Station Complex around 13h30.

End of tour.

Lovely light deli lunches are served at the Table Mountain Café and the Wi-fi Lounge, which is inside the Upper Cable Station Complex.
