Johannesburg: Speaker evening - Hugh Fraser

Travel: Much more expensive than drugs, considerably more addictive

In an era of augmented and virtual reality, it is now more important than ever (carbon footprint and the horror of Economy Class travel, aside) to Travel. Hugh Fraser uses his experience as an architect to explore cities around the world. The content will be based on the cities he has visited in the two weeks prior to this presentation, but will look at the fabric of the built environment, its impact on people and the food, music and architecture.
Hugh Fraser was born in Johannesburg.

He studied architecture at the University of the Witwatersrand and practiced as an architect for 18 years, and taught at Wits and UJ during that period.

Eventually he fled clients and contractors and worked for the Concrete Institute and Glass South Africa which allowed him to travel around the world to record architecture and the built environment. He has now been to 85 countries, just showing off. He has a passion for the Built Environment, photography and film and uses those skills to travel and record and also to review movies.

He is currently the media manager for Paragon Architects.

Further information and venue details from the Johannesburg Chairman, Miriam Jorna.
