Join us for a magical evening of star- and moon-gazing and socialising, at a beautiful winery between Somerset West and Stellenbosch.
Following our highly enjoyable stargazing event with the StarPeople last July, we have invited them back with their telescopes to share their view of the night sky.
Auke Slotegraaf, Ed Foster and Lynnette Foster of StarPeople will provide a brief talk on ‘What’s Up’ – what we can expect to see in the night sky – as well as a discussion on current events of interest, followed by (weather permitting) viewing of the Moon, bright stars, planets and deep-sky objects through their telescopes.
The winemaker has generously agreed to allow us the use of the beautiful lawns in front of the winery for a picnic.
Arrive from 18h30, bring your camp chairs or picnic blankets, and baskets. The moon will be visible on the horizon from about 19h00.
There is no charge for the event, and you’re welcome to bring guests.
To comply with legal requirements, and in support of our favourite winemaker, we request that you not bring any alcohol to the venue, and avail yourselves of the wonderful (and very affordable) wines at the estate.
You’re advised to bring something warm to wear.
RSVP to the Winelands Secretary. Please include your cellphone number when you RSVP – in the event of bad weather requiring us to cancel this event, you will be advised via SMS by 12h00 on 11 March.
