Join Mensa Winelands for an exclusive, guided tour at the Heart of Cape Town Museum, situated within Groote Schuur Hospital, on Saturday 6 May at 15h00.
As a precursor to our May Speaker Evening on Thursday 18 May, at which a team of three female academics from UCT will present the process and results of their research which has identified the gene responsible for sudden death among young people and athletes, hailed ‘the biggest breakthrough in South African cardiology since Dr Chris Barnard’s first heart transplant nearly 50 years ago’, we’ll enjoy a fascinating trip back in time, through historical, cultural, emotional, ethical, medical and scientific bases.
The tour culminates in an enthralling visit to the restored operating theatres in which Chris Barnard perfomed his historic heart transplant, featuring realistic reconstructions of the event.
The duration of the tour is two hours.
