We are delighted to host Dr Xanthe Hunt as our guest speaker at our monthly meeting on 21 February.
Xanthe Hunt is a researcher at the Institute for Lifecourse Health research at the Faculty of Health Science at Stellenbosch University. She has a joint affiliateship at the University of Los Angeles, California, at the Phodiso Trauma Research Network, and is currently doing a postdoctoral course with Harvard Medical School, in biostatistics and epidemiology.
Xanthe holds a Bachelor’s degree in humanities, majoring in Psychology and English, and honours in Journalism, and an honours in Psychology.
Her Masters in Psychology was upgraded without amendment to a PhD after half a year, due to its scope and importance, and she received the Stellenbosch University Chancellor’s Award for top graduate in 2018.
Xanthe works at an internationally-recognised level as a public health researcher, both in her chosen fields of disability studies and child development, but also with world authorities in genetics and implementation science. Her work has been presented at the World Health Organization, and published in several books. Her own, co-authored book, is due to be published in late 2019.
