Politics in a time of corona: The impact of Covid-19 on South African politics
This month Jan-Jan Joubert, political journalist and commentator, joins us to give an overview of and take questions on the impact of Covid-19 on the South African state and South African power politics – inside the ANC as well as in the five largest political parties in the run-up to this year’s local government elections
Jan-Jan grew up in Durban and holds a BA Hons degree in History (Cum Laude), a BPhil in Journalism, and a Higher Education Diploma. He is currently studying towards a Masters degree in History.
He has been covering parliament from the press gallery since 2001, and has variously been the political editor of Beeld, Die Burger and Rapport, and parliamentary bureau chief of the Sunday Times.
He is a frequent contributor to radio and television programmes; is a theatre critic; and has authored three books: Who Will Rule in 2019?, No Crumbs off the Table, and Will South Africa be Okay?
The meeting will be held via an interactive Zoom webinar, and all members of Mensa South Africa are welcome to participate.
To register, and receive a link for the webinar, write to the Winelands secretary, Yvonne Steyn.
