Mensa Winelands monthly speaker meeting.
In 1994, nineteen survivors walked away from the wreckage of the only airworthy Avro Shackleton which had crashed, at night, in the Sahara Desert – in the middle of territory that had been fought over for twenty years, and which had no diplomatic ties with South Africa.
Co-pilot on that flight, Captain Jonathan Balladon, will revisit the presentation he gave to members of Mensa Winelands in 2019 – with photographs from his personal collection and audio from the event, he will tell the story of the crash and the ordeal which followed.
The meeting will be held via an interactive Zoom webinar, and all members of Mensa South Africa are welcome to participate.
To register, and receive a link for the webinar, write to the Winelands secretary, Yvonne Steyn.
