Winelands: Virtual speaker evening - Dr Frank Vorhies

We invite you to join us on Thursday 30 April for a virtual speaker evening at which Dr Frank Vorhies will join us from Oxford to talk about why we need a wildlife economy (rather than wildlife conservation).

Frank, the founder and executive director of Earthmind, has over 30 years of international experience in the interface between business, biodiversity and sustainable development.

(Earthmind is an organisation based in Switzerland which focuses on ‘the management of human use of the biosphere so that it may yield the greatest sustainable benefit to present generations while maintaining its potential to meet the needs and aspirations of future generations’.)

Frank’s academic experience includes teaching at universities in Africa, Europe and the USA, and he was responsible for setting up the global programmes on economics and business at the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

The meeting will be held via a Zoom webinar, and all members of Mensa South Africa are welcome to participate.  To register, and receive a link for the webinar, write to the Winelands secretary, Yvonne Steyn.
